DUSHANBE, 20.05.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – The Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Feridun Sinirlioğlu, highly praised the contribution of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, to strengthening regional stability. He made the statement today during a briefing following his meeting with the Head of State.
Sinirlioğlu noted that his first official visit as OSCE Secretary General confirms the strong partnership between the organization and Tajikistan, which has lasted for more than 30 years.
According to him, since joining the OSCE in 1992, Tajikistan has played an active role in the organization’s work, and in 1994 the country hosted the OSCE’s first field presence in Central Asia.
The Secretary General emphasized that OSCE activities are closely aligned with Tajikistan’s priorities, including border security and management, water and energy issues, as well as countering transnational threats.
Particular attention was given to the OSCE Border Management Staff College in Dushanbe, which, according to Sinirlioğlu, has become a leading regional platform for professional training and dialogue.
The OSCE Secretary General also highly appreciated the personal contribution of President Emomali Rahmon to advancing the state border agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan signed in March 2025, as well as the Khujand Declaration of 31 March 2025 between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
“These achievements demonstrate that dialogue, political will and peaceful cooperation can deliver concrete results,” Sinirlioğlu said.
He added that amid rising tensions in different parts of the world, Central Asia today serves as an encouraging example of strengthening trust and ensuring collective security.
