On April 17, 2026, at approximately 00:50 hours, within the area of responsibility of military unit 0307 of the Border Troops Directorate of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan in Khatlon Region, specifically in Farkhor District, three Afghan drug traffickers illegally crossed the state border from the territory of Afghanistan into Tajikistan.

As a result of a combat operation conducted by officers of the national security agencies and servicemen of the Border Troops, the movement route of the criminals was identified, and the trafficking of a particularly large quantity of narcotic substances was prevented.

The traffickers failed to comply with lawful orders of border guards to surrender and offered armed resistance. During the operation, two members of the criminal group were neutralized. One individual managed to escape under cover of darkness in the direction of Afghanistan.

At the scene, the bodies of two Afghan traffickers were recovered, along with two Kalashnikov assault rifles, two magazines containing 35 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, one hunting bow, and two sacks containing 25 packages of narcotic substances, all of which were seized.

According to the expert conclusion of the Department for Forensic Examination of the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the seized substances were identified as narcotic drugs of the “hashish” type, with a total weight of 25 kilograms.

In connection with this incident, the Investigation Directorate of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan has initiated a criminal case under Articles 195 (Part 2), 200 (Part 4, paragraph “d”), 289 (Part 3), and 335 (Part 2) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. The investigation is ongoing.

The State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan states with full responsibility that it will continue to employ all necessary forces and means to ensure the security of the state border and will deliver a lawful and appropriate response to any border violations.

At present, the situation along the state border remains under control.
