On May 26, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, received the Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Aliabadi, who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the Fourth High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028.”

During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues related to the further development of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Iran.

Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation in the economic, industrial, energy, agriculture, road construction, and transport sectors.

The parties also considered it appropriate to establish joint ventures in a number of areas, including mining, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and the processing of cotton, wool, and leather.

Regarding the situation in the Middle East, it was emphasized that existing challenges and conflicts can only be resolved through diplomatic channels and negotiations. In this context, Tajikistan’s firm position in support of continued political efforts and constructive dialogue aimed at the peaceful settlement of regional and international conflicts was reaffirmed.
