Tajik Central Bank, China’s Agricultural Bank Discuss Expanding Financial Cooperation

A meeting between Firdavs Tolibzoda, chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, and Gu Shu, chairman of the Agricultural Bank of China, took place June 2 as part of efforts to strengthen financial and banking cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Daler Murodalizoda, deputy chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan; Liu Songsheng, general manager of the Human Resources Department; Hou Guifeng, general manager of the International Relations Department; Tao Aisu, senior specialist of the International Relations Department; Yuan Ye, senior specialist of the central office; Zhu Jijun, head of the Agricultural Bank of China representative office in Tajikistan; and heads of structural divisions of the National Bank of Tajikistan.
The two sides discussed expanding interbank cooperation, correspondent banking relations, investment support, trade finance, and joint projects. They also addressed digitalization of financial services, adoption of modern banking technologies, risk management, and development of financial infrastructure.
Tolibzoda noted the Agricultural Bank of China’s contribution to financial relations between the two countries and said China remains one of Tajikistan’s key strategic and economic partners. He added that economic, trade, and financial cooperation between the two countries continues to expand steadily.
He also said cooperation between Chinese banks and Tajik financial institutions has developed over many years, providing a strong foundation for trade and investment. In this context, he said the opening of Chinese bank branches in Tajikistan could further expand bilateral cooperation.
After the meeting, Tolibzoda briefed the Chinese delegation on Tajikistan’s macroeconomic situation and financial sector. He said the country maintains strong economic growth and moderate inflation, while the banking system continues to strengthen its resilience.
He said ongoing financial sector reforms have improved the performance of financial institutions, increased deposit volumes, expanded lending to the real sector, and strengthened overall financial stability.
Gu Shu praised Tajikistan’s economic development prospects and expressed readiness to expand cooperation with the National Bank of Tajikistan in areas including training and exchange of banking best practices, green economy development, digitalization, cybersecurity, compliance mechanisms, and strengthening professional capacity.
