Tajik Lawmakers Attend APA Council Meeting During PUIC Conference in Baku

On the sidelines of the 20th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) in Baku, deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan participated in a meeting of the Council of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), NIAT “Khovar” reported, citing the Majlisi Namoyandagon.
During the meeting, participants discussed strengthening interparliamentary cooperation, promoting dialogue among civilizations, expanding cultural diplomacy, and enhancing the role of parliaments in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.
It was noted that, guided by the fundamental values of respect for human rights, international solidarity, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation reflected in the Charter of the United Nations and international documents, Tajikistan places priority on the development of intercultural dialogue and the strengthening of mutual understanding between nations.
The Parliament of Tajikistan, as chair of the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, expressed appreciation for the constructive cooperation and contributions of member parliaments in advancing Asia’s shared agenda in social, cultural, and humanitarian fields.
The meeting also highlighted Tajikistan’s readiness to host the next session of the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly from September 24 to 27 in Dushanbe.
During the exchange of views, participants praised Tajikistan’s contributions to global initiatives on water and climate issues, strengthening international security, preventing modern threats, and promoting a culture of peace. The country’s role as an initiator of ideas and a consistent supporter of multilateral cooperation, dialogue among civilizations, and humanitarian values was also emphasized.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants expressed readiness to continue constructive cooperation within the framework of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and to actively participate in the upcoming committee meeting in Dushanbe, wishing Tajikistan success in achieving shared goals of peace, stability, sustainable development, and regional integration.
