Tajikistan, ICAT Discuss Expanding Climate Transparency Cooperation at UN Talks in Bonn

During the 64th session of the Subsidiary Bodies of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Bonn, Abdullo Kurbonzoda met with Henning Wooster, a UNFCCC-supported initiative.
According to Tajikistan’s Committee for Environmental Protection, the sides discussed strengthening climate policy transparency, improving systems for monitoring, reporting and verification of climate data, and preparing national reports under the commitments of the Paris Agreement.
Particular attention was paid to enhancing Tajikistan’s capacity to assess climate measures, improving the quality of climate reporting and using modern tools to monitor progress toward achieving the country’s Nationally Determined Contributions.
Kurbonzoda highlighted the importance of international cooperation in climate transparency and expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency to strengthen national climate monitoring and reporting systems.
ICAT representatives, in turn, reaffirmed their readiness to continue providing expert and technical support to countries implementing the Enhanced Transparency Framework under the Paris Agreement.
The parties also agreed to develop a joint project ahead of the 31st Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC, scheduled to be held in November 2026 in Antalya, Turkey.
