Dushanbe-Moscow Passenger Train Service to Resume June 21

Direct passenger rail service between Dushanbe and Moscow will resume June 21, reports Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.
The route, operated by the state-run Tajik Railways, will run once every two weeks.
The first train will depart Dushanbe on Sunday, June 21, at 3:25 p.m. local time and arrive at Moscow’s Paveletsky Station on Wednesday at 10:08 p.m. local time. The return service will leave Moscow on Thursday, June 25, at 6:05 a.m. and arrive in Dushanbe on Monday at 2:48 a.m. local time.
The journey takes about four days and passes through Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Russia. Scheduled stops include Bukhara, Nukus, Kungrad, Kandyagash, Aktobe, Sol-Iletsk, Orenburg, Samara, Syzran, Kuznetsk, Penza, Ryazhsk, Skopin and Ozherelye, among other locations.
Tickets are available for purchase 45 days before departure. Tickets departing from Dushanbe have already gone on sale, while tickets from Moscow will be released later.
For the June 21 departure, ticket prices are set at 2,617.6 somoni ($240) for a third-class sleeper car and 3,713.42 somoni ($340) for a second-class compartment car. Russian Railways listed the fares at 20,089 rubles and 28,499 rubles, respectively.
Tajik Railways currently operates three passenger routes between Tajikistan and Russia: Kulyab-Volzhsky, Dushanbe-Volzhsky and Khujand-Volzhsky, each running once a week.
The Dushanbe-Moscow route was restored through cooperation between Tajik Railways, Russian Railways and the railway administrations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
