A new Electronic Permit System and centralized payment platform have been launched in Tajikistan, simplifying and digitizing the issuance and exchange of transport permits.
According to the Transport Ministry of Tajikistan, the system, developed with support from the European Union and the German government, is designed to streamline the issuance of permits for international transportation and improve the efficiency, transparency and security of transport services.
As part of the launch, the transport ministers of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on the exchange of electronic permits, known as ePermits. In the first days of operation, Tajikistan sent its first 100 electronic permits to Uzbekistan through the new digital mechanism.
The Electronic Permit System and centralized payment platform were modernized under the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor Capacity Development Program, funded by the European Union and the German government and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation, or GIZ.
The platform provides transport companies with a secure and integrated environment for submitting group applications, managing permit distribution and tracking permit use. Officials said the system also improves the efficiency and transparency of financial transactions.
The centralized payment platform is integrated with banking systems and mobile payment services, enabling online transaction verification, automatic data reconciliation and enhanced financial transparency through modern information security mechanisms.
Authorities said the new system has significantly reduced the time required to obtain transport permits, supporting the digitalization of the transport sector and facilitating international freight transportation.
