Tajik farmers harvested 588,847 tons of wheat by August 2026, with an average yield of 40 centners per hectare, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

In 2026, collective and private farms across Tajikistan planted 295,299 hectares of grain crops, including 195,338 hectares of wheat. By August, farmers had harvested wheat from 171,651 hectares.

Agricultural scientists say wheat is one of Tajikistan’s most important crops, given the country’s high consumption of bread and other wheat-based products. Wheat is also suitable for long-term storage.

Higher wheat yields depend on timely planting and adherence to recommended cultivation practices. Agricultural experts emphasize that following proper farming techniques is essential to achieving high grain yields.

Wheat is a nutritious, high-calorie grain that can be stored for up to two years. It contains significant amounts of protein, carbohydrates, fats, mineral salts, vitamins and enzymes.
