The upcoming meeting of the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly will be held in Dushanbe from Sept. 24-27, 2026, Khovar reported, citing the lower house of Tajikistan’s parliament.

The meeting, chaired by Tajikistan, is expected to bring together the secretary-general and Secretariat of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, as well as heads and members of parliamentary delegations from more than 20 member states.

The event will mark the first time Tajikistan has hosted a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly.

The meeting will provide a platform for exchanging best practices, strengthening interparliamentary cooperation, advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation across Asia.

Dushanbe has been designated the Cultural Capital of Asia for 2026. The selection of the Tajik capital as the venue for the gathering highlights the city’s role in regional cultural and diplomatic exchanges and Tajikistan’s efforts to promote dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation among Asian countries.
