President Emomali Rahmon Participates in Independence Anniversary Celebration in Rasht District

On the evening of September 11, in Rasht district, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, attended and delivered a speech at a festive event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.

At the outset, Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, extended his warm congratulations on the 35th anniversary of independence to the hardworking residents of Rasht, Nurobod, Tojikobod, Lakhsh, and Sangvor districts, as well as to all participants of the event.

President Emomali Rahmon noted that, in preparation for the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s State Independence, the construction and renovation of 986 production and social facilities had been planned in the districts of the Rasht Valley. As of August 20, 2026, 825 facilities, or 82.1 percent of the total, had been commissioned.

The Head of State highly commended the significant contribution of district residents, patriotic entrepreneurs, and generous individuals to the construction of facilities dedicated to the anniversary. He expressed his gratitude to all of them for their constructive initiatives, strong sense of patriotism, and active participation in the development and improvement of their beloved homeland.

The Head of State stated that during the period of independence, with the aim of promoting the socio-economic development of Rasht, Nurobod, Tojikobod, Lakhsh, and Sangvor districts, improving living conditions, and providing opportunities for the construction of residential housing, land plots for individual housing have been allocated to more than 50,000 families in these districts, covering a total area of 11,000 hectares.

It was also noted that over the past 20 years, the Directorate for the Construction of Government Facilities under the Executive Office of the President has constructed and commissioned 43 facilities in Rasht, Nurobod, Sangvor, Tojikobod, and Lakhsh districts, with a total cost of more than 250 million somoni. Construction of five additional facilities, with a total value of 370 million somoni, is currently underway.

During his speech, President Emomali Rahmon provided an analytical overview of the development and progress of key sectors of the national economy, including industry, agriculture, and energy.

Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, also highlighted achievements in the transport sector and stated that dozens of major state investment projects for the construction and rehabilitation of roads and bridges have been implemented in the districts of the valley. In particular, 300 kilometers of the Dushanbe–Karamyk road in Rasht and Tojikobod districts have been rehabilitated. In Lakhsh district, under three projects, 255 kilometers of roads and 15 bridges were constructed and rehabilitated at a cost of 850 million somoni, while implementation of other projects aimed at improving the road network is continuing.

It was emphasized that over the past 20 years, more than 2.1 billion somoni from the state budget has been allocated to the development of the education sector in the districts of the valley.

President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that from 1998 to 2026, that is, since the establishment of the Presidential Quota system, 3,100 young people from the aforementioned districts, including 1,900 girls, have been admitted to higher education institutions across the country through this preferential program.

The Head of State stated that protecting public health, particularly the health of mothers and children, is one of the priority areas of the state’s social policy. Currently, 300 healthcare institutions operate in the Rasht region, providing medical services to the population through 431 doctors and 1,200 mid-level medical professionals.

Emomali Rahmon stressed that, at the new stage of progress and development, leaders, officials, and every conscientious citizen must demonstrate a high level of responsibility.

Concluding his speech, Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, expressed confidence that the honorable people of the districts of the Rasht Valley will continue to work faithfully and diligently to develop and prosper their beloved homeland—the independent Republic of Tajikistan.

Following President Emomali Rahmon’s speech, a grand and colorful concert program was held.

Masters of the arts and performers from the Rasht Valley presented the guests with beautiful songs based on the works of renowned poets and melodies by prominent composers, celebrating the Homeland, Tajikistan, Independence, Unity, and the guiding Leader of the Nation.

The festive concert program, held in honor of the country’s national celebration, was vibrant, magnificent, and memorable.
