On Sept. 2, the Executive Board of the U.N. Children’s Fund adopted the UNICEF Country Programme for the Republic of Tajikistan for 2027–2030 during its second regular session at U.N. headquarters in New York, according to the Permanent Mission of Tajikistan to the United Nations.

The program provides a framework for continued cooperation between UNICEF and the Government of Tajikistan in health, education and child and youth well-being.

Tajikistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Jonibek Hikmat, thanked UNICEF for its continued cooperation and support for national efforts to improve children’s lives.

The program is aligned with the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan to 2030, the Medium-Term Development Program for 2026–2030 and the country’s sectoral priorities.

It focuses on maternal and child health, nutrition, early childhood development, inclusive and quality education, youth skills development, child social protection, the inclusion of people with disabilities, and support for children in rural, mountainous and remote areas.

The program aims to strengthen national systems and capacities, expand inclusion and resilience, reduce inequalities affecting children and young people, and improve access to essential services, protection and development opportunities for every child.
