A telephone conversation took place today between the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the Russian Federation, His Excellency Vladimir Putin.

At the beginning of the conversation, the President of Russia warmly congratulated the Head of State on his birthday and conveyed his best wishes.

Expressing gratitude for the warm congratulations, the Leader of the Nation noted that he extended those good wishes to the entire people of Tajikistan.

The heads of state went on to discuss the current state and prospects of interstate relations between the two countries, which are based on the principles of strategic partnership and alliance.

The presidents also exchanged views on other topical issues of mutual interest.
