An international scientific and practical forum titled “The Role of Geology in the Development of the Country’s Industry,” along with the ninth International Micromine-2026 Users’ Conference, was held in Guliston, Khovar reported.
The event brought together representatives of government agencies, scientific and educational institutions, mining companies and specialists from nine countries: Australia, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan.
Participants highlighted the role of geology in studying underground resources, identifying and exploring mineral deposits, and assessing Tajikistan’s mineral and raw material potential since the country gained independence. Mineral reserves are fundamental to the development of mining, metallurgy and other sectors of the national economy, making their exploration and sustainable use strategically important.
“One of the key areas of development in this sector is the digitalization of geological processes. The use of specialized software enables the systematic collection and processing of geological data, the creation of three-dimensional models of mineral deposits, the assessment of mineral reserves, and more efficient planning of mining operations,” said Ilhomjon Oymuhammadzoda, head of the Main Directorate of Geology under the Government of Tajikistan.
Participants also emphasized that digital technologies, including the new Micromine software, can improve calculation accuracy, save time and enhance the quality of technical decision-making. The use of artificial intelligence in geological analysis and modeling was also identified as a promising area for the sector.
The international event provides a platform for exchanging best practices, strengthening professional ties, training qualified specialists and advancing digital technologies in Tajikistan’s geological sector.
The conference is scheduled to continue tomorrow.
