Jubilee CIS Summit kicks off in Bishkek
The jubilee CIS Summit has started in Bishkek at Ala-Archa state residence.
The Summit brought together Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev (Chairman), Russia — Vladimir Putin, Kazakhstan — Nursultan Nazarbayev, Belarus — Alexander Lukashenko, Tajikistan — Emomali Rahmon, Azerbaijan — Ilham Aliyev and Armenia — Serzh Sargsyan.
Moldova is represented by Prime Minister, Uzbekistan — Foreign Minister and Turkmenistan – chairman of Cabinet of Ministers and Ukraine Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, according to Kyrgyzstan’s kabar News Agency.
After a group photo a meeting in a narrow format has started.
The session is held in a restricted and expanded-participation format. The agenda of the session includes 15 items.
The CIS leaders are discussing the implementation of the interstate program CIS Capitals of Culture in Azerbaijan in 2017, the program of cooperation against terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism for 2017-2019, and the convention on interregional cooperation.
The CIS heads of state will pay special attention to the adaption of the CIS to modern realities, BelTa reports.
