Today, at the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Erlan Idrissov.

The two sides touched upon the issues related to the state and prospects of further expansion of Tajik-Kazakh strategic partnership of cooperation within the framework of the international and regional organizations, in particular the UN.

It was expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation between the two countries in the spheres of shared interests. Head of state Emomali Rahmon stressed the readiness and interest of the Tajik side in further strengthening of friendly relations between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.

During a meaningful conversation the parties, having exchanged views on the situation in the region and the world, especially in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and on strengthening the state border with this country, identified future plans for the joint fight against terrorism, extremism, drug smuggling. With the view of assistance in improving the socio-economic and political situation in Afghanistan, the need was emphasized to strengthen trade and economic ties, create energy and road transport infrastructure in the territory of this country, and strengthen human capacity in Afghanistan through the development of education and training of qualified personnel.

The sides also discussed the process of addressing pressing regional and global issues, including reducing the risk of natural disasters and climate change.
