UNSC Counter-Terrorism Committee delegation visits Customs Service of Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, 03.03.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The delegation of the United Nations Security Council /UNSC/ Counter-Terrorism Committee and other international and regional organizations led by Ahmed Seif al-Davla, Deputy Executive Director of the Office for Counter-Terrorism Committee /CTED/ in the course of an official visit to Tajikistan met with relevant authorities of Tajikistan, including employees of the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, addressing ways of strengthening cooperation and combating modern security threats.
According to the press centre of the Customs Service, during the meeting issues related to security, combating terrorism and other phenomena and modern threats, expansion of cooperation with foreign partners in the field of law enforcement, efficient management of borders and control of cross-border movement of goods have been reportedly discussed.
It was noted that the Customs Service of Tajikistan in order to fulfill its international obligations in the field of customs affairs has extensive cooperation with the customs authorities and other competent authorities of foreign countries and international organizations that are engaged in customs affairs.
UNSC Counter-Terrorism Committee representatives have expressed view on the process of implementation of the obligations of the Republic of Tajikistan, as contained in the UNSC resolutions, identifying the needs of Tajikistan for technical assistance to implement the UNSC resolutions and development recommendations and proposals to the Government of the country for the discussion of resolutions.
