Tajikistan Deputy Prime Minister Azim Ibrohim met with the Regional Director of the UN Children’s Fund
DUSHANBE, 14.07.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim met with Ms. Afshan Khan — Regional Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund for countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States at the request of Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund.
During the meeting the parties expressed view on different aspects of cooperation, as well as voiced their satisfaction with the current level of cooperation in the field of protecting and ensuring the rights and interests of children.
It was noted that one of the most active institutions in ensuring children’s rights and interests is the Commission under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on the Rights of the Child. It was established with the direct support of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon and considered an effective mechanism for implementing government policy on promotion and protection of children’s rights. Through Comission the activities of state and local bodies, towns and villages, enterprises, institutions and other organizations are coordinated for implementing state policy in ensuring children’s rights and interests, and regulating issues relating to education of children.
Afshan Khan also noted that over the past few years the Republic of Tajikistan has made significant achievements in protecting and ensuring children’s rights and interests, and the United Nations Children’s Fund is ready to provide comprehensive support to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for the intensification of cooperation and implementation of government programs.
The parties assessed the further development of cooperation and effective use of mutually beneficial opportunities, and called joint efforts for more developing these relations in line with the interests of both sides.
