Delegation of Tajikistan attended the Ministerial Conference of the 8th World Water Forum
DUSHANBE 26.03.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. On March 19-20 in Brasilia, the Federal Republic of Brazil, the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzoda participated and spoke at the Ministerial Conference of the 8th World Water Forum. NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the source, the conference was also attended by ministers from more than 100 countries.
In his speech, the head of the Tajik delegation Usmonali Usmonzoda noted that the Republic of Tajikistan is one of the leaders in advancing the water agenda at the global level, and at the initiative of Tajikistan, the UN General Assembly had announced the International Year of Freshwater (2003), the International Decade for Action “Water for Life” (2005-2015), the International Year of Water Cooperation (2013), and the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” (2018-2028).
“All these initiatives were based on the understanding that water is a key element not only for social and economic development, but also for ensuring peace, stability and development. And therefore, water issues should always be given the highest priority”, — said Usmonali Usmonzoda.
It was noted that the initiative of Tajikistan — the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018-2028 is one of the important initiatives that serves as a timely basis for the further promotion of water issues at the global level.
The head of the Tajik delegation also covered the water issues of the Central Asian region and the successes of the water sector reform in the Republic of Tajikistan.
Following the statement, the participants of the Conference were informed about the holding of the International High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” to be held in Dushanbe on June 20-22, 2018.
Mr. Usmonzoda invited all participants to take part in this important international event, which is organized by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the United Nations.
