Tajikistan marks the National Flag Day today
DUSHANBE, 24.11.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Today, November 24, Tajikistan marks the Day of the National Flag. The National Flag Day was officially established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on November 24th, 2009.
A ceremony of official raising of the Main Flag of Tajikistan takes place in Dushanbe on November 24th, which is attended by representatives of state structures, the public, and youth.
The National Flag Day of Tajikistan is widely marked in the republic. Flags are posted across the country, in state institutions, and on the streets. Celebratory events – a solemn procession of labor collectives and youth, sports competitions and concerts are held on this day in the capital, provincial centers, and cities of the country.
Thanks to the flag, the Republic of Tajikistan entered the Guinness Book of Records. On September 9th, 2011, the country’s national flag was raised in the world’s highest flagpole – 165 meters (the previous record of 162 meters belonged to Azerbaijan) at the solemn ceremony in Dushanbe, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence. The flag has dimensions of 60 by 30 meters and weighs at least 700 kilograms. Our photo story is dedicated to this date.
