Minister of Justice: Two New Corrective Labor Colonies Will Be Built in Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, 29.01.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Two new corrective labor colonies will be built in Tajikistan in the near future, reported the Minister of Justice Rustam Shohmurod, during a press conference held on Monday in Dushanbe.
“Such a measure was taken in order to completely move the corrective labor colony of Dushanbe outside the capital,” commented minister.
“The construction of the first colony is already underway in the city of Vahdat. Part of the colony is planned to be commissioned later this year. Another colony is planned to be built in the Rudaki district. Currently, the issue around designing a colony in Rudaki is being resolved,” he continued.
According to the data of the Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan, there are currently more than 12,000 prisoners in various correctional labor colonies in the country.
