DUSHANBE, 19.05.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde.
The current issues and future prospects of Tajikistan and WB collaboration were the item of the meeting agenda.
President Rahmon expressing satisfaction over the current status of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and the World Bank and noted that over the past of 28 years of partnership, the bank has financed the implementation of more than 100 projects of vital importance in Tajikistan totaling $2.1 billion.
While exchanging views on the situation in Tajikistan during the spread of the coronavirus infection, its impact on the economy, and cooperation between Tajikistan and development partners on the prevention of infectious diseases and elimination of the consequences of the disease, President Rahmon expressed his hope that the World Bank will remain a reliable partner of Tajikistan in this sensitive period and will continue the implementation of further government plans to eliminate the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and ensure sustainable development.
During the meeting the two sides also discussed mutual cooperation with an emphases of energy, transportation, Tajikistan’s budget support, private sector development, and elimination of effects of natural disasters in the country.
