President Emomali Rahmon Holds Security Council Meeting

DUSHANBE, 05.07.2021 (NIAT Khovar) — Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan, Chairman of the Security Council Emomali Rahmon held a council meeting.
The meeting was attended by its members, heads of military structures and law enforcement agencies.
Due to the aggravation of the situation on the border of Afghanistan with Tajikistan, the discussion centered around ensuring security in the border areas and taking measures to strengthen the protection of the state border.
Commander of the Border Troops Rajabali Rahmonali and Minister of Internal Affairs Ramazon Rahimzoda reported on the situation.
While considering the escalation of the political situation in the border areas of Afghanistan with Tajikistan, President Rahmon instructed the participants to take concrete measures in order to ensure security of the state and nation.
He stressed the importance of strengthening the border protection capacity and to directing additional military forces to the necessary areas.
Following the meeting, also serving as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan, Preaident Rahmon instructed the Minister of Defense to mobilize 20,000 reserve troops to further strengthen the state border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
