Speaker of the National Assembly Rustam Emomali Meets with Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan

DUSHANBE, 23.09.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Within the framework of his official visit to Nursultan, Speaker of the National Assembly Rustam Emomali met with the Speaker of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament.
The discussion focused on the current state and prospects for developing relations of strategic partnership, as well as enhancing inter-parliamentary ties between the two nations.
The Tajik official stressed that the Tajikistan attaches great importance to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Parliament of Kazakhstan within the framework of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
Emomali stressed the importance of many years of efforts and the effective role of the top political leadership of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in strengthening and expanding good relations and raising the bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
They discussed a number of issues concerning trade, economy, and military-technical cooperation.
Despite the difficult epidemiological situation, the trade turnover between the two countries approaching $1 billion in 2020, increasing by nearly $100 million compared to the same period last year.
Speaker Emomali expressed his satisfaction with the positive trend, noting that the potential and resources of the two countries have not yet been fully utilized.
The parties expressed interest in further expanding cooperation in the fields of agriculture, food security, tourism, education, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The discussion also touched upon Afghanistan. They noted that the developments pose a problem not only for the Afghan people, but for the entire region. They stressed that the establishment of an inclusive government is a prerequisite for a comprehensive solution to Afghanistan’s problems.
Strengthening the military-technical cooperation between the two countries was noted as one of the key issues and priorities.
Following the talks, Emomali invited Maulen to visit Tajikistan.
In closing, the two officials signed an agreement on cooperation between the National Assembly of Tajikistan and the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
