DUSHANBE, 06.06.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Shixin Chen.
Shixin Chen arrived in Dushanbe to take part in the Second International High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028.”
The discussion focused on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the ADB.
At the outset of the meeting, President Rahmon called that the participation of the bank’s representatives in the Second Dushanbe Water Conference a sign of support for Tajikistan’s initiatives in promoting the World Water Agenda.
He expressed satisfaction with the development of partnership between Tajikistan and the Bank during the 24 years of cooperation, which has been carried out at a high level in all important areas.
The bank’s financing package in Tajikistan to date includes 175 investment projects and worth more than $2 billion.
During the meeting the sides discussed issues of further cooperation in the fields of transport, energy, agriculture, health, education, and the financial sector. It should be worth noting that 17 projects worth $900 million are being implemented in these areas.
The issues of attracting funding for the implementation of hydropower projects, transport, education, and infrastructure were also touched upon.
The bank was thanked for its support in preventing the spread of the pandemic and mitigating its consequences.
