DUSHANBE, 28.07.2023 (NIAT Khovar) — The operation to assist British climbers has been completed, reports the press center of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of Tajikistan.

On July 20, at 15:30, the duty part of the Committee received information that two foreign climbers — British citizens — Michael Alan Fowiler and Simon Andrev Yates, fell from a height in order to conquer Pathor peak, located in the Shugnon district of GBAO, have been injured and need help.

Having found out the coordinates and location of the climbers, rescuers were sent to help. On July 22, at 18:00, the Committee’s rescuers transported Michael Alan Fowiler with the help of a stretcher to the village of Devloh in the Rushon district.

Due to a possible spinal injury to Simon Andrew Yates, rescuers stayed with him at an altitude of 4184 meters near Pathor peak. After providing first aid, they began to go down.

On July 24, at 21:50, a group of rescuers lowered him to a height of 3277 meters in the village of Devloh in Rushon district, spent the night there and continued moving in the morning on July 25.

According to Simon Andrew Yates, he does not need medical help. He has no serious injuries. Both climbers refused further transportation, continuing their journey on the territory of GBAO.
