DUSHANBE, 02.08.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – In order to upgrade the vehicle fleet, improve the quality of service and prevent traffic accidents, boost the environmental protection and reduce the emissions, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan considered it necessary to ban the import of vehicles manufactured before the year 2013 into the territory of the country.
In this regard, the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated August 2, 2023, No. 355 «On banning the import of vehicles manufactured before 2013 into the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan» was approved.
The decree applies to vehicles for carriage of passengers, light vehicles, freight transport vehicles and specialized vehicles.
Currently, a large number of old vehicles are used in the Republic of Tajikistan, which are the main source of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere.
The analysis shows that most of the emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere come mainly from the use of old vehicles. Also, most of the traffic accidents occur with old cars.
Taking into account the published information, the adoption of the document is considered important and timely.
