Geneva hosts UN member states event on water and climate at the initiative of Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 02.05.2024 /NIAT «Khovar»/. On the initiative of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva in cooperation with the World Meteorological Organization, an event of UN member states related to water and climate was held.
According to the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Swiss Confederation, during the event, the participants discussed water and climate issues and new ways of cooperation, important high-level events on water and climate, including the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28, COP 29), the World Water Forum and the Dushanbe Water Conference.
Ambassador Sharaf Sheralizoda stressed the importance of protection of water resources in the region and their careful use and drew attention of the participants to the global initiatives of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on water resources, which contribute to the promotion and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals related to water.
In this context, he also informed about preparations for the 3rd Dushanbe Conference on Water Action Decade.
