Visa-free air travel announced between Tajikistan and Iran

DUSHANBE, 03.02.2025 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan announces that, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on visa abolition for holders of ordinary passports, signed on November 8, 2023, in Dushanbe and approved by Decree No. 1 of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on January 3, 2024, as well as in accordance with the new Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran, citizens of Tajikistan and Iran holding ordinary passports will be able to travel visa-free to each other’s territory by air for up to 30 days within any 90-day period.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, recognizing the friendly relations between the two countries, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan supports the Iranian proposal for visa-free entry of Iranian citizens into Tajikistan on the basis of reciprocity.
This measure applies exclusively to air travel between the two countries. Citizens traveling through third countries and/or land border crossings must obtain the appropriate visa.
The new rules will come into force on February 3, 2025.
