Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda: Ensuring peace, stability and peaceful life in world is one of main goals of Tajikistan’s foreign policy

DUSHANBE, 21.02.2025 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The parliamentary delegation of Tajikistan under the leadership of Chairman of Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda took part in the 15th plenary session of Asian Parliamentary Assembly, which was held on February 19-20 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda noted: “Today the Parliament of Tajikistan along with the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) takes an active part in the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and other inter-parliamentary structures”.
Regarding the global initiatives of Tajikistan, it was emphasized that the promotion of lasting peace, stability and peaceful life in the world is one of the main goals of the foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan.
“The proposal of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly to adopt a special resolution «A Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations» includes precisely these objectives,” he said.
It was noted that the international community’s support for Tajikistan’s initiatives on water and climate issues reflects the leading role of our state in implementing the water and climate agenda at the international level.
“On Tajikistan’s initiative, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2025 as the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation” Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda noted. — This resolution established World Glacier Day, which will be celebrated annually from 2025, and established the Trust Fund for Glacier Conservation”.
The Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon noted that the first high-level International Conference on Glacier Conservation will be held in Dushanbe in May and called on delegations of partner states, international and regional organizations to actively participate in the work of the conference.
