DUSHANBE, 28.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) –  Rustam Emomali, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan and Mayor of Dushanbe, met with Vladimir Putin, Russian President.

At the outset of the meeting, Rustam Emomali conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan to President Vladimir Putin.

The discussions covered a broad range of topics concerning the strategic partnership and allied cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the continued progress in inter-parliamentary relations, which have steadily reached a new qualitative level.

The positive dynamics in political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and military cooperation between the two countries, achieved through regular and trust-based political dialogue at the highest level, were emphasized.

Recalling the successful outcomes of President Emomali Rahmon’s recent official visit to Russia, Rustam Emomali once again thanked President Vladimir Putin for his support in advancing two key social projects in Dushanbe — the international educational center for gifted children and the new building of the Vladimir Mayakovsky State Russian Drama Theatre.

Acknowledging the significant untapped potential in bilateral relations, the parties agreed on the necessity of expanding the role of the Tajik-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. This would further bolster the ties between the two countries in all spheres.

The development of cultural and humanitarian exchanges was also highlighted, particularly active cooperation in education, the promotion of Russian language learning, and the dissemination of Russian culture.

Other topics discussed included labor migration issues and coordinated efforts to address pressing challenges in this area.

The sides also exchanged views on the current political situation globally and in the region, with a particular focus on the instability in Afghanistan and other important international matters.
