Dushanbe Conference Launches New Era in Global Glacier Diplomacy

DUSHANBE, 30.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – The opening of the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation marks the beginning of a new global initiative: the Dushanbe Process for Glaciers’ Preservation.
In his keynote address, President Emomali Rahmon announced that the outcomes of the conference, including the Dushanbe Declaration and the Dushanbe Glaciers Appeal, would serve as a foundation for coordinated international action.
“This is not only a scientific issue — it is a geopolitical one,” Emomali Rahmon said. “We must treat glaciers as strategic natural assets whose preservation is essential for peace, development, and security.”
