DUSHANBE, 30.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation officially commenced in Dushanbe.
Within the Kokhi Somon Palace, the conference features more than 20 thematic zones showcasing Tajikistan’s water and tourism potential, its breathtaking landscapes, and the country’s largest hydroelectric facilities, leveraging cutting-edge technology.
The exhibitions bring together a broad spectrum of stakeholders under one roof — including UN agencies, international organizations, governmental and non-governmental bodies, financial institutions, academic entities, private sector representatives, and civil society.
Each pavilion serves not merely as an exhibition space but as a high-tech platform powered by artificial intelligence. The displays focus on key topics such as regional and international cooperation in glacier conservation, climate change impacts on water resources, integrated water management, disaster prevention and response, development of hydropower as a clean and renewable energy source, and the implementation of water-saving technologies.
Conference attendees expressed admiration for the natural beauty and diversity of Tajikistan: the majestic Pamir, Zarafshon, and Hissor mountain ranges; the unique Sarez Lake; the Siyoma River; the country’s largest hydroelectric plants — Rogun and Norak; and the rich flora and fauna. All were presented through immersive multimedia programs and digital technologies that capture the country’s natural grandeur in vivid detail. Many visitors were genuinely moved and inspired by the experience.
The conference opening ceremony was held at Kokhi Somon, featuring speeches by heads of foreign delegations. The event continues with thematic sessions, panel discussions, and roundtables.
Media coverage is provided by over 500 accredited journalists, including more than 150 reporters from leading global outlets such as Al Jazeera, Euronews, TRT Avaz, Agence France-Presse, TASS, and others. A modern press center equipped with the latest technology and high-speed internet has been established at Kokhi Somon to support their work.
