Kazakhstan ranked second among main foreign trade partners of Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 08.08.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On August 8, the 19th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan on Economic Cooperation was held in Astana, the Republic of Kazakhstan, under the leadership of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Khokim Kholikzoda and the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar, with the participation of delegations from both sides, reports the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of the country.
The meeting discussed the current state and prospects for the development of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in the fields of economy and trade, industry, investment and banking, transport, water and energy, agriculture, customs, education and science, culture, healthcare, tourism, youth and sports, migration and employment, ecology and environmental protection.
The parties expressed their interest in further expanding direct trade and economic relations between business entities, strengthening investment cooperation, actively supporting the initiatives of entrepreneurs and investors, and establishing joint industrial enterprises in the territories of both states, paying special attention to the development of regional cooperation, the establishment of stable and long-term structures of economic cooperation and partnership, the creation of modern investment platforms, the digitization of relations, as well as the expansion of logistics and infrastructure capabilities.
During the meeting, the co-chairs of the Commission gave instructions to the leaders and representatives of state authorities of both sides to strengthen bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation.
It should be noted that in 2024, the volume of mutual trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan amounted to 1.3 billion US dollars, which is 144.5 million dollars or 12.6% more than in 2023. The Republic of Kazakhstan is among the three main trading partners of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In 2024, the total volume of investment inflows from the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Tajikistan amounted to 217.1 million US dollars, which is 5.5 million dollars or 2.5% more than in 2023. In particular, the volume of direct investment amounted to 15.5 million US dollars, which is 3.5 million dollars or almost 30% more than in 2023.
These positive trends are the result of a combination of joint efforts, including within the framework of the implementation of the decisions of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and active cooperation of the business circles of the two countries.
Following the meeting, the parties signed the Protocol of the 19th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan on Economic Cooperation.
