DUSHANBE, 11.09.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 11, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, continued his working visit to the Khovaling district and visited the Historical Museum of the Stone Age, where he also got acquainted with the archaeological excavations at the Kuldara historical site.
The Khovaling Historical Museum of the Stone Age has collected rare historical monuments and finds that were found as a result of archaeological excavations at historical sites, including Kuldara, Khonakoh, and Khonakoh 1-2 in Khovaling.
During the tour, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, was informed that the monuments of this museum reflect three historical periods: the Stone Age, the Early Middle Ages, and the Late Middle Ages.
The stone tools that make up the majority of the museum’s finds date back to the Lower Paleolithic period and are more than 950,000 years old.
This historical museum in the Khovaling district contributes to the study of various historical periods, including the Stone Age, the Early Middle Ages, the Antique period, the Late Middle Ages, the 18th-19th centuries, and after the independence of Tajikistan, and plays a significant role in educating the younger generation in self-awareness, patriotism, and respect for the rich history and civilization of the Tajik nation.
According to historians, the discovery of these monuments was made by the well-known Tajik archaeologist Vadin Ranov, and as a result of his archaeological excavations, more than 1,000 monuments of war, hunting, and the livelihood of the first people were found, made of Galka stone.
After getting acquainted with the Khovaling Stone Age Historical Museum, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, visited the archaeological excavations in the historical site of Kuldara, which is located a short distance from the museum.
During the visit to the archaeological excavations, it was reported that Kuldara is the oldest part of Central Asia, and settlements from the Stone Age — Lower Paleolithic period have been found in this area.
The discovered monuments of the Kuldara historical site indicate that ancient people «Homo erectus» lived here 1 million years ago.
The study of historical sites in the republic, especially the remains of the Stone Age, has gained new momentum since independence.
It was thanks to the culture-loving and far-sighted initiatives of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, that the historical sites of our country were studied and revived with the involvement of domestic and foreign archaeologists.
The sculptures and monuments discovered along this route are evidence that the Tajiks are an ancient nation with a rich history.
