President Emomali Rahmon meets with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev

On October 9, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Honorable Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of the Central Asia-Russia Summit and the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

At the beginning of the conversation, Emomali Rahmon noted that regular high-level meetings «allow us to address pressing issues of Tajik-Uzbek cooperation and coordinate the parties’ positions on key areas of interaction».

The heads of state commended the sustainable development of relations between the two countries and expressed their readiness to discuss the status and prospects of the strategic partnership and alliance between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

It was pointed out that the comprehensive expansion of trade and economic potential remains a key area of the bilateral agenda.

The successful work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, whose regular meeting was held in Khiva, Republic of Uzbekistan, was noted with satisfaction.

Readiness was expressed to further expand cooperation in energy, industry, and the implementation of new technologies, including green ones.

The positive development of interregional ties and the intensification of contacts between the regions of the two countries were mentioned.

Particular attention was paid to issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

An interest in continuing scientific and cultural exchanges was expressed.

At the end of the meeting, the two Heads of State also noted the effective cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan within the United Nations and other regional and international organizations.

Confidence was expressed that the joint steps being taken would serve the benefit of the peoples of the two fraternal states.
