DUSHANBE, 19.02.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – The wisdom of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan lies not only in abstaining from food and drink and engaging in worship. Rather, this blessed month places particular emphasis on inner and outer purity, refraining from malice and hostility, exercising self-discipline, and more actively performing good deeds within society. This was stated by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, in his congratulatory message on the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Head of State underscored that piety, generosity toward others, extending a helping hand to those in need, providing assistance to relatives within one’s means and capacity, and performing other righteous and meritorious acts are among the values for which Muslims receive greater spiritual reward during this month.

“A person who performs one good deed or an act of charity in this blessed month is like one who has performed seventy obligatory acts outside of this month,” the President of the Republic of Tajikistan noted.

The Leader of the Nation further emphasized that among the charitable acts for which special reward is highlighted specifically during the holy month of Ramadan is providing charity to orphans and persons with disabilities, single-parent and low-income families, as well as other vulnerable groups. It should also be borne in mind that, according to the teachings and provisions of the noble religion of Islam, the recipients of fitr al-fasting are, first and foremost, orphans, persons with disabilities, those in need, and low-income families.

In this regard, the revered Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The best and most valuable charity is that which is given during the month of Ramadan.”
