The Fourth Dushanbe Conference in 2026 will serve as a key preparatory meeting for the 2026 U.N. Water Conference, consolidating the results of 2023 and charting the path to 2028, officials said at a briefing in Dushanbe.
Rustam Abdulloev, a representative of the conference secretariat responsible for organizing forums, said the sequence of events demonstrates that the Dushanbe Process has become an important global platform for dialogue, partnership, and action on water resources.
“The overall goal of the Fourth Dushanbe Conference is to support the achievement of the goals of the International Decade for Action, ‘Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028,’” Abdulloev said.
The conference will focus on four objectives: preparing for the 2026 U.N. Water Conference, co-chaired by Senegal and the United Arab Emirates; showcasing scalable solutions within the Water Action Agenda; strengthening the implementation of the Water Action Decade; and conducting informal stakeholder consultations.
