On March 31, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, continued his working visit to the city of Isfara by commissioning Coal Mine No. 8 of the Angisht Joint-Stock Company.

The Head of State was informed that the reconstruction of Mine No. 8 in Shurob was carried out with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and development partners. The project included the modernization of production lines and key industrial facilities. Currently, more than 700 people are involved in the project, and according to plans, the workforce—including local workers—will gradually increase. It was further noted that, as new phases of the project are implemented, coal production is expected to reach 200,000 tons in 2026, 700,000 tons in 2027, and exceed 1 million tons annually by 2028.

At present, the company employs around 700 people, with plans to expand the workforce to 1,500 in the future.

The project has also resulted in the creation of essential production infrastructure, including drinking water reservoirs, a water supply system, utility and service buildings, and an electrical substation. These developments provide favorable conditions for efficient operations and improved social and living standards for employees.

A dormitory accommodating 700 people has been constructed, along with an administrative and service building equipped with modern working conditions in line with established standards. The main building includes a conference hall for meetings, and a sports ground has been developed nearby. Landscaping efforts have also been undertaken, including the planting of shade trees and ornamental flowers.

Currently, operations at Coal Mine No. 8 are focused on supplying the domestic market with locally produced coal and advancing the mining industry. The commissioning of this facility, within the framework of the country’s accelerated industrialization policy, will contribute to increased production, job creation, and the strengthening of national energy capacity.

The Leader of the Nation instructed responsible officials to further enhance the enterprise’s performance, thereby contributing significantly to industrial development and improving the standard of living of the population.

Following this, the Head of State remotely commissioned several social facilities, including the State Flag Alley in the Chorkuh jamoat, three preschool educational institutions with a total capacity of 360 children in the Vorukh and Khodja Alo jamoats, as well as a sewing workshop and the Nilufar medical service center, which has created 40 new jobs.
