Leaders of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan Reaffirm Strategic Partnership and Regional Cooperation

On April 21, a meeting was held in Astana between the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honorable Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

During the conversation, the two leaders discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral Tajik-Kazakh relations of friendship and cooperation within the framework of their strategic partnership and alliance.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the rapid growth of their partnership in virtually all areas. They noted the importance of continuing to maintain regular interstate political dialogue and expanding trade, economic, and investment ties in areas of mutual interest, particularly in industry, transport, logistics, and the agricultural sector. They also noted the high growth rates of mutual trade turnover, which by the end of 2025 reached $1.2 billion. Digitalization, innovation, new technologies, and artificial intelligence were identified as promising areas.

In the cultural and humanitarian sphere, discussions focused on expanding creative exchanges, as well as academic and educational ties.

In the area of security, the heads of state focused on strengthening cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres, as well as countering regional and global challenges and threats.

Along with this, issues of multilateral cooperation within international and regional structures were discussed. In this context, an exchange of views took place on the agenda of the Regional Ecological Summit and the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, which will be held tomorrow in the capital of Kazakhstan.
