President Emomali Rahmon Addresses SCO Council of Heads of State in Bishkek

On September 1, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, participated and delivered a speech at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization entitled “25 Years of the SCO: Strengthening Stability, Expanding Cooperation for a Common Future”.
At the beginning of his speech, the President of our country, Emomali Rahmon, highly appreciated the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and expressed gratitude to its President, Sadyr Japarov, for the traditional hospitality and high-level organization of the summit.
His Excellency Emomali Rahmon stated that Tajikistan, as one of the founding countries of the “Shanghai Five” and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, has been an active participant in their development, the establishment of the organization and the strengthening of its international image.
The Head of our state recalled the intensification of geopolitical contradictions and regional conflicts, the growth of threats of terrorism, extremism, radicalism, and other current problems, highlighting that ensuring security in this situation requires more effective measures.
“In the near future, activating the work of the Anti-Drug Center and the Universal Center for Combating Security Threats can be among the effective joint measures in this direction,” — said the President of our country, Emomali Rahmon.
The Head of our state, Emomali Rahmon, once again stressed the need to resolve all regional and international conflicts, including in the Middle East and around the Islamic Republic of Iran, through political and diplomatic means.
Emomali Rahmon emphasized Tajikistan’s strong commitment to further promoting the global agenda of peace and stability, and expressed gratitude to the heads of partner states for supporting our country’s initiative to declare the “Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations.”
Continuing his speech, the Head of our state, Emomali Rahmon, called trade and economic cooperation within the organization among other priorities, and considered it necessary to give greater impetus to cooperation in the fields of industry, energy, transport and transit, and agriculture.
It was noted that the expansion of the digital economy, innovation, and high technologies, including artificial intelligence, are conducive to long-term development.
Given the tensions in regional and global energy markets, it was called for strengthening the coordination of actions in the field of traditional energy and promoting projects for the transition to «green» energy.
It was proposed to study the establishment of economic development zones and a regional digital agro-ecological platform in the SCO region.
Progress in the establishment of the SCO Development Bank was welcomed.
The President of our country, Emomali Rahmon, called the preservation of glaciers, the rational use of water resources, the prevention of land degradation, and ensuring environmental security among the strategic goals of sustainable development in today’s conditions.
President Emomali Rahmon expressed his hope that Tajikistan’s international initiatives in these areas will continue to be supported.
In conclusion, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, congratulated the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on assuming the chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and expressed his support for the initiative to declare Lahore the tourist and cultural capital of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2026-2027.
