On September 9, at Independence Square in the capital, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, took part in and addressed a march of residents of Dushanbe dedicated to the 35th anniversary of State Independence.
At the outset, President Emomali Rahmon warmly congratulated all those present on the occasion of the great and sacred national celebration of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
It was emphasized that 35 years ago, the Tajik people attained independence and proclaimed the establishment of their national state. In other words, after many centuries, the Tajik nation restored its independent statehood and entered an entirely new period of its history.
It was noted that, as a result of the imposed civil war in the early 1990s, the newly independent Tajik state faced the threat of destruction, while the fragmentation of the Tajik nation became a grim reality of those days.
According to the Leader of the Nation, President Emomali Rahmon, at this decisive stage, the proud and freedom-loving Tajik people and their honourable and patriotic sons united and rallied together in order to preserve their national statehood and save their beloved homeland from this tragedy.
“Gaining State Independence and subsequently safeguarding the independence and freedom achieved through struggle and effort, restoring peace and tranquility, establishing comprehensive political stability and achieving national unity constitute the greatest achievement of the Tajik nation in its modern history,” the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, stated.
For this very reason, the Head of State described this great event — independence — as a destiny-defining achievement for the Tajik people.
It was noted that the progress and development achieved over the past 35 years through the efforts of the honourable people of Tajikistan and the dedicated work of every citizen of the country are, in terms of their historical significance, equivalent to a century of development.
According to the Leader of the Nation, President Emomali Rahmon, the most important and greatest achievements during this period have been the restoration of constitutional government, the establishment of lasting and irreversible peace, and the achievement of national unity. These accomplishments were attained through the patriotic struggle and selfless efforts of the dignified people of the country.
It was emphasized that, most importantly, during this period a new generation was born and came of age — a generation possessing a strong sense of national identity, self-awareness and civic consciousness, deeply patriotic and devoted to its homeland, eager to acquire knowledge, science, professions and skills, and ready to defend the independence and freedom of its homeland and to further develop and prosper the country.
“We take pride in the dignified Tajik people, particularly our honourable and patriotic youth, and we have great hopes for each and every one of them!” the President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized.
The Head of State spoke about the recognition of Tajikistan and the adoption of the country’s global initiatives, describing Tajikistan’s new initiative on the “International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations, 2027–2036” as further proof of this.
Concluding his remarks, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, once again sincerely congratulated the entire population of the country, the residents of the beautiful capital, compatriots and fellow Tajik-speaking people living abroad, as well as all participants of today’s march, on the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of Tajikistan. He wished every citizen of the country and every Tajik family happiness and prosperity, good fortune, abundance and a peaceful and prosperous life.
Following the address by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, a festive march was held with the participation of residents of the capital, representatives of various professions, as well as young people and children of the prosperous and fortunate generation that has grown up during the period of independence, in honour of the sacred and glorious national celebration — the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In terms of its scale and grandeur, this was the largest festive march held in the capital during the 35 years of the country’s independence, with more than 120,000 people passing in front of the main grandstand.
The march was actively attended by heads and employees of ministries and committees, representatives of the executive authorities of Dushanbe and its districts, higher educational institutions, and representatives of the industrial, agricultural, transport, communications, energy, healthcare, education and cultural sectors, as well as athletes, builders of the Rogun Hydropower Plant, representatives of various organizations and institutions and companies, residents of the capital, young people and children.
This grand festive event was held at a high organizational level as a tribute to national symbols, State Independence and the values of statehood.
The participants of the march, carrying national flags and festive banners and slogans, marched in a celebratory atmosphere, expressing their love and devotion to independent Tajikistan.
It should be noted that such festive events contribute to strengthening a sense of national awareness and self-consciousness, patriotism, and appreciation of the blessings and achievements of the era of State Independence.
