Dear compatriots!

Eighty-one years ago, together with millions of representatives of other nations and peoples, and thanks to the heroism and selflessness of the sons of Tajikistan, the world was liberated from the scourge of fascism. Since then, this date has been commemorated annually as Victory Day.

On this occasion, I sincerely congratulate the war participants, home front veterans, and the glorious people of Tajikistan.

Victory Day over fascism is celebrated each year by peace-loving peoples in many countries around the world, as humanity, especially in today’s turbulent times, increasingly recognizes the value of peace, tranquility, justice, and humanity, and honors the memory of the noble deeds and heroism of our ancestors, who defended the freedom and bright future of today’s generations.

World War II affected approximately 80 percent of the world’s population at that time and claimed the lives of millions of civilians.

From the very first days of the war, the people of Tajikistan actively participated in the battles and contributed to securing this historic victory.

Tajikistan, whose population at the beginning of the war was 1.5 million, mobilized more than 300,000 of its sons and daughters to the front.

More than 100,000 of them died on the battlefield, and approximately 40,000 went missing.

For their heroism during World War II, 58,000 Tajik officers and soldiers were awarded orders and medals, while the prestigious title of “Hero of the Soviet Union” was conferred upon 55 individuals for their courage and valor.

The bravery and dedication of the sons of Tajikistan symbolize the invaluable contribution of our people to this great victory and to the preservation of peace and security throughout the world.

The memory of the noble deeds and selflessness of those who never returned from the battlefield will never fade, and respect for war and labor veterans will always endure.

It should also be noted that Tajikistan’s contribution was significant not only on the battlefield but also on the home front.

Women, children, and the elderly, despite enduring hunger and the hardships of wartime, worked tirelessly around the clock and made a worthy contribution to achieving victory.

Although our people themselves faced shortages of food and other essential goods, they continued to send grain, food, clothing, and financial assistance to the front.

Furthermore, more than 45,000 residents of Tajikistan were sent to industrial enterprises in other regions of the former Soviet Union, and many of them were later mobilized from there to the front lines.

During the war, over 100,000 people, mostly women and children were evacuated from war-torn regions to Tajikistan, where our land became their second home.

Today, more than 80 years after the end of the most tragic and devastating war of the twentieth century, the international community once again finds itself at a very difficult and dangerous juncture.

Particularly alarming developments, including growing confrontations among world powers, military operations and armed conflicts, the intensifying arms race, “hybrid” and “cold” wars, and the expanding subversive activities of terrorist and extremist organizations are seriously undermining peaceful life, stability, and development across the world.

Tajikistan, which after gaining independence experienced an imposed civil war, fully understands the grave and tragic consequences of such processes.

Proceeding from this understanding, we attach paramount importance to safeguarding peace and stability, ensuring peaceful coexistence throughout the world, and consistently advocate for resolving all contradictions and conflicts exclusively through peaceful means.

In this regard, it must be emphasized that defending the Motherland, preserving peace and tranquility, ensuring political stability, strengthening national unity and self-awareness, and safeguarding the foundations of Tajik statehood are sacred and honorable duties for every conscientious and worthy citizen.

I express my full confidence that our people, especially our patriotic and devoted youth, will continue to cherish and strengthen these priceless blessings—peace, tranquility, unity, and solidarity with gratitude for independence and freedom, pride in our homeland and statehood, and unwavering commitment to the stability of our country.

Once again, I congratulate the war veterans, labor veterans, and all residents of the country on the 81st anniversary of Victory Day. I wish them good health, happiness, and prosperity, and I wish our beloved Tajikistan eternal peace and stability.

Happy Victory Day, dear compatriots!
