Tajikistan’s Economy Grows Nearly 100-Fold Since 2000, Emomali Rahmon Says

Tajikistan has averaged annual economic growth of more than 7.7% over the past 25 years, placing it among the world’s fastest-growing economies, President Emomali Rahmon said during a speech marking the country’s 35th Independence Day on Sept. 8.
The Head of state Emomali Rahmon said the sustained growth followed the country’s recovery from the devastation of the civil war in the 1990s and the postwar reconstruction period.
According to the President, Tajikistan’s gross domestic product has surged from 1.8 billion somoni in 2000 to 177 billion somoni in 2025—an increase of nearly 100-fold.
He also said state budget revenues have climbed from 252 million somoni in 2000 to 65 billion somoni in 2026, marking an increase of more than 250-fold.
