On September 27, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, reviewed the project for the construction of an Agro-Logistics Center in the city of Khorugh.

The Agro-Logistics Center will be constructed within the industrial zone of Khorugh on an area of 2 hectares. It is designed for the reception, storage, processing, and preparation of agricultural products. The center will have the capacity to receive and process up to 600 tons of agricultural products at a time.

According to the project, three modern technological production lines will be installed at the center. Agricultural products will undergo sorting, cleaning, quality inspection, labeling, and packaging before being prepared in accordance with the requirements of the domestic market and international standards. The project will create 64 permanent and seasonal jobs.

Fruits and vegetables produced in the mountainous conditions of Badakhshan will be processed and packaged at the Agro-Logistics Center.

One of the main objectives of establishing such a center is to prevent the loss of agricultural produce and create favorable conditions for its long-term storage. By utilizing modern storage and processing facilities, agricultural products can be supplied to the market at a high quality, creating opportunities to increase farmers’ incomes and strengthen the competitiveness of domestically produced goods.

During the presentation of the project, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, instructed officials of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as scientists and sector specialists, to ensure high-quality construction and installation of technological equipment and to make extensive use of advanced technological practices during the construction of the facility.

The relevant officials were also instructed to create the necessary conditions for the storage, processing, and preparation of agricultural products, while paying particular attention to product quality and compliance with the requirements of international markets.

Overall, the construction of the Agro-Logistics Center in Khorugh is being implemented within the framework of the “Enhancing Agricultural Resilience” project. Under this project, the establishment of five agro-logistics centers is planned in the cities of Dushanbe, Khorugh, and Khujand, as well as in the Danghara and Jaloliddini Balkhi districts.

The implementation of such initiatives will contribute to the development of agricultural infrastructure, support agricultural producers, increase the volume of product processing and storage, and create new opportunities for exports.
