At the outset, President Emomali Rahmon warmly welcomed the guests to Tajikistan and wished them success in the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states.
In his address, President Emomali Rahmon noted that over the past years, the Council has established itself as a specialized platform for interstate cooperation in the field of law enforcement and crime prevention.
“Today, the Council plays a key role as an important mechanism for coordinating the joint activities of the internal affairs bodies of the member states in ensuring public security and strengthening stability in society,” said Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon.
It was emphasized that the threats and challenges of the modern world require further strengthening of security measures and expansion of international cooperation.
Strengthening the coordination of law enforcement activities among the CIS member states was deemed important for effectively combating crime, particularly transnational and organized crime.
Combating drug and arms trafficking, human trafficking, and other forms of transnational organized crime was identified as a key area of activity for the relevant agencies.
President Emomali Rahmon also spoke about the rapid growth of cybercrime and the use of new communication technologies and artificial intelligence by criminal groups, which is of particular concern in terms of spreading radical ideologies.
In this regard, the need to increase the speed of information exchange and ensure a timely response to transnational threats was stressed.
During the meeting, other pressing issues concerning cooperation among the internal affairs agencies of the CIS member states were also discussed.
