On October 19, at the Palace of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, received Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Li Qiang, who is visiting Tajikistan on an official visit and to participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

At the beginning of the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that Tajikistan consistently attaches special importance to strengthening and expanding cooperation with the People’s Republic of China.

For his part, Li Qiang stated that China consistently supports the development and prosperity of friendly Tajikistan and remains committed to assisting in the implementation of priority joint projects.

During the meeting, the sides discussed ways to expand economic cooperation, including trade turnover, which exceeded $2.5 billion in January–August of this year.

Particular attention was paid to implementing new mutually beneficial joint projects in industry, energy, transport, infrastructure, and agriculture.

The use of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, the creation of new jobs, and workforce training were also among the key topics of discussion.

The parties also held a constructive exchange of views on a wide range of issues related to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Tajikistan and China.

During the meeting, the Leader of the Nation and the Premier of the State Council of China discussed specific issues on the international and regional agenda.
