Syria’s Air Force delivers humanitarian cargo to Deir ez-Zor residents
Dushanbe, 28.03.2016. (NIAT “Khovar”). — Syria’s Air Force, supported by Russian fighters, has delivered 30 metric tons of humanitarian cargoes to the city of Deir ez-Zor, besieged by militants of the Islamic State terrorist organization, TASS news agency reports quoting the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring sides in Syria.
“On March 27, the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring sides in the Syrian Arab Republic organized an airlift and airdrop of a humanitarian cargo of the International Red Crescent to ISIL militants-besieged city of Deir ez-Zor”, — a spokesman for the center told journalists.
He added that the cargo delivery was carried out from Khmeimim airfield by an Il-76 military transport aircraft of the Syrian Air Force escorted by Russian Su-30 and Su-35 fighters.
Some 200,000 residents of IS terrorists-surrounded Deir ez-Zor currently urgently need foodstuffs, drugs, fuel and other prime necessity goods.
“Four parachute platforms with 30 tons of humanitarian aid of the international humanitarian movement Red Crescent were airdropped above the Deir ez-Zor areas blocked by terrorists”, — the spokesman said.
He underscored that international humanitarian organizations have been unsuccessfully trying for a few months to organize humanitarian aid deliveries to the besieged city, and that this delivery of the International Red Crescent cargo to Deir ez-Zor became possible with assistance of the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring sides in Syria.
