Tajik Deputy FM and Chief of UNESCAP Transport Division discuss cooperation issues
Dushanbe, 13.04.2016. /NIAT «Khovar»/. The meeting of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Muzaffar Huseynov with the Director of Transport Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commissions for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) Yuwei Li has been held in Dushanbe today.
According to the Tajik MFA Information Department, during the meeting the issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and ESCAP on transport, as well as strengthening of regional transport infrastructure were discussed.
The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is one of five regional commissions of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. It was established in 1947 to encourage economiccooperation between the Member States. It includes 53 Member States and 9 associate members. It is the largest of the Regional Commissions of the UN both in terms of area of coverage, and of the population of the region. The main objective of the ESCAP is managing the process of globalization in the area of environmentally sustainable development, trade and human rights. The ESCAP has extensive experience in assisting countries in the establishment and development of transport capacities at the regional and sub regional level, effective implementation of measures to remove barriers.
