Dushanbe, 12.01.2015. (NIAT «Khovar»). -Today, in the Palace of Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Federal Minister of Water Resources and Energy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Khawaja Muhammad Asif who arrived in Tajikistan with an official delegation.

The meeting addressed a wide range of current issues and prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon emphasized that Tajikistan positively evaluates the friendly relations and beneficial cooperation with Pakistan and will take every efforts to develop and expand them.

Pakistani Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif also in his turn stated that indeed the state visit of the President of Tajikistan to Pakistan which took place recently was very substantial and yielded a lot of results.

The sides considered necessary the activities of Joint Working Group of Tajikistan and Pakistan on Energy and Infrastructure Cooperation established upon common decision of heads of both states.

During the conversation, the sides discussed the issues of cooperation on the construction of CASA-1000 PTL, automobile roads, railways and resumption of air communication between the two countries, participation of Pakistani companies in the investment into different projects in the fields of energy, oil, gas and mineral extraction in Tajikistan, attraction of Tajikistani companies in the implementation of various projects in Pakistan, cooperation in the strengthening of defense potential and combating terrorism.

At the end of talks, Khawaja Muhammad Asif extended the condolences of the Government and people of Pakistan according to instruction of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the consequences of natural disasters in Badakhshan and proposed the humanitarian assistance allocated by Pakistan at the amount of 1 million USD.
